| Let’s start
with the boats, all Teddesley boats are built here, in our yard,
with my personal attention to detail. The boats have full sized
berths together with all “mod cons” such as central heating, ample
hot water heated by the engine, fresh water flushing toilets,
fridges, full sized cookers and sit-in shower baths. There is also a
television and radio, should you feel the need to keep in touch with
the real world! Once you’ve
boarded your boat, cruise our waterways at your own pace. The more
energetic may choose to complete a circular cruise, perhaps
embarking on the “Four Counties Ring”, which takes in Staffordshire,
Cheshire, Shropshire and (briefly) the West Midlands. Others decide
to linger a little along the way, choosing a ‘there and back’ cruise
via the historic towns of Stone, Stourport or Market Drayton. This
gives them more time to discover the delights beyond the towpath,
such as the world-renowned Wedgwood Visitor Centre at Barlaston or
Shugborough Hall - the home of the Earl of Lichfield, the famous
royal photographer. |
If you’ve
never been on a canal boating holiday before, then you needn’t worry
about handling a boat. The traditional tiller steering is easily
learnt and we have the benefit of a lock right beside our boatyard
where we give you full instructions on how to operate the boat and
its equipment safely. As members of the Royal Yachting Association’s
Inland Waterways training scheme we pride ourselves upon our
comprehensive handover. You can rest assured that you won’t leave
the boatyard until we are confident that you can handle our boat.
Whatever you choose to do, you’ll find
that once you’ve booked the boat, you don’t need to spend much money
on entertainment as working the locks and steering the boat though
beautiful countryside provides entertainment itself. Ofcourse, if
you want to splash out a little, there are more than enough pubs
along the way should you decide to eat out - with none of the hassle
of having to drive home as you can often moor up right alongside! |
