HELPFUL INFORMATION
What to bring, what to do and some other useful information.
what to bring
Pets
Pets are welcome provided they are well trained and have their own bedding. We regret that no more than two pets are allowed on any boat with out our prior permission. We charge £25 per pet.

Provisions
A Co-Op supermarket is 1 mile away in Penkridge village. It opens 9am until 10pm, 6 days a week and 10am until 4pm on Sundays.
By canal its 40min and 2 locks and 10min walk. Do consult you guide books to obtain further provisions on route.

Mobile telephones
You can recharge your telephone on board. Boats have either 1 2v or 240v charging system or mains charging.

Sufficient LPG is carried on board for at least 2/3 weeks depending on time of year.
Central heating on all our boats is by time tested AIde boilers and is thermostatically controlled by you.

The Engine
Propulsion is by quiet water-cooled diesel engine. This are controlled by a single lever control, with tiller steering to manoeuvre the boat.

Fishing
Canals are a delight for the angler with quiet spots and backwaters. After a day’s cruising find a likely spot and enjoy an evening’s fishing. We have a strict condition that no live bait of any kind may be taken on board. A national rod licence is required.

All boats are licensed for British Waterways administered waterways. The River Avon requires a licence, which is obtainable en-route.

Lighting & 240 Mains Voltage.
Heavy-duty traction batteries give 12volt electric supply for the lighting There is a separate battery for starting the engine.
A 240 volt supply from an inverter will allow you to use the mains television set, a toaster or a hairdryer and vacuum cleaner. Please note, use only one major appliance up to 1500 watts at one time. (The fridge will shut down if you run out of battery power, you may have to start the engine.) The boats are designed to run for 6/8 hours to fully recharge the batteries each day.

You have a galvanised 120 gallon water tank situated in the bow of the boat, you will need to refill the tank each day. The hosepipe is situated on the roof of the boat.

Hot water is supplied from the engine via a calorifier, you will need to run the engine to replenish the hot water if you run out.

Toilets
All boats are fitted with Mansfield Traveller toilets, they are fresh water flushing toilets, which empty into a holding tank. The larger boats have 2 toilets. If you run out of water you not be able to flush the toilet.

Car Parking
Cars may be parked free of charge for the duration of your holiday at the owner’s risk.
